Hybrid work is the company standard, where employees are encouraged to choose where they work to best suit their needs. LinkedIn, by contrast, is not currently requiring employees who want to return to the office to be vaccinated. Facebook and Google also told employees yesterday they would be required to be vaccinated when returning to the office. That move has been met with resistance by some Apple employees, who circulated a letter threatening to quit if required to report to work.
Apple has told employees they will eventually be required to work in person at least three days per week, although they have pushed the return-to-office deadline back until at least October amid the current surge in coronavirus cases. However, workers who relocate from cities like San Francisco and New York to cheaper locales may have their pay docked based on local market rates, the company told Reuters.

Alphabet Inc's (GOOGL.O) Google expects 60% of its workforce to return to the office at least part-time. Hanson said LinkedIn is not currently requiring employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to return to the office, in contrast to tech companies such as Facebook (FB.O) and Google that have responded to a rise in U.S. Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) is closing its recently reopened offices due to the surge in cases.

Other tech companies includingTwitterand Facebook have said many employees are welcome to work remotely forever — although Facebook, like LinkedIn,plans to slash pay for employeeswho leave Silicon Valley for cheaper areas. The majority of LinkedIn’s 16,000 employees will be allowed to work remotely full-time, the company said Thursday, in a reversal of its previous policy. Apple Inc (AAPL.O) will require most employees to work from the office three days per week starting in October, while Zillow Group Inc (ZG.O) and Reddit Inc will allow most employees to work remotely.
The updated policy, offering the flexibility to work remotely full-time or work at an office part-time, will apply to LinkedIn's global workforce of more than 16,000 employees. The tech industry was among the first to allow employees to work from home when COVID-19 hit the United States last year. But the extent to which tech companies are embracing permanent remote work is now diverging. "We anticipate that we'll definitely see more remote employees than what we saw prior to the pandemic," Hanson said in a Wednesday interview ahead of the announcement, adding that some jobs would require in-office work.
